Redesigning warehousing logistics

Case Study

Bricoman

Bricoman is a chain of DIY shopping centers that has a strong presence in the Valencian community. As part of Grupo Caleta, it has become a leading destination for both individuals and professionals seeking DIY products and services.

Needs

Bricoman is currently undergoing an extensive process of organizational, functional, and technical enhancements. These improvements are aimed at enabling the effective management of the anticipated business growth in the coming years, including the expansion of shopping centers across the province. As part of this transformation, Bricoman has undertaken a comprehensive project to reorganize and enhance its logistics and warehousing operations.

Description of the consultancy

The logistics reorganization project at Bricoman encompasses the following key areas of focus:

Analysis of the company’s human resources, review of the current organization chart, defining specific tasks for each employee, proposing improvements or changes within the HR departmen, reorganizing the layout of the warehouse, analysis of the existing logistics processes, evaluating their current state (AS-IS), identifying areas of improvement, analysis of processes in a final state with the improvements incorporated (TO-BE), adequacy of information systems to warehouse control.

Results

After the project’s completion, the company obtained a 40% increase in storage capacity, thanks to the physical redesign of the warehouse layout. Furthermore, the efficiency of material supply to the stores was enhanced through the redesigned flow of supply and storage process. One of the greatest advantages, according to the company’s CEO, is the availability of a process map. This map enables full traceability, allowing the company to track and monitor orders from the moment they are placed with the manufacturer until the final delivery to the customer.
