ABBA Hoteles S.A. is a Spanish hotel chain founded in 1999. Currently, it operates hotels in Spain, Andorra, Germany, and Chile. The chain’s philosophy is to provide a comfortable and satisfying stay for its guests, with a strong emphasis on the quality of services and customer service. In short, ABBA Hoteles stands out for the quality of its services and customer service, with a focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
The apartment building ABBA Apartments Playa del Gros is in one of the most emblematic areas of San Sebastián, specifically in the Gros neighborhood, just a 5-minute walk from Zurriola Beach. Furthermore, the San Sebastián bus and train station are conveniently located only 1.2 km away.
The objective of this project was slightly different from standard implementation, as the building would be partially unattended. Therefore, they needed to incorporate a set of communication elements that would enable them to respond to guests without always requiring a physical presence in the building itself.
The ABBA chain already operates a hotel in the city of San Sebastián, which offers a 24-hour reception service. The concept was to establish a local communications center within the building itself, while also ensuring connectivity with the central office of ABBA San Sebastián hotel.
This setup was implemented to address all customer requests. If the reception staff at ABBA Apartments was unavailable, the calls would be forwarded to the reception of the San Sebastián hotel, ensuring uninterrupted service for the customers.
In addition, the possibility of having an IP video door entry system, which would be connected to the reception of the San Sebastián hotel, was considered for access to the premises.
The hotel’s proposed solution was installing a unified communications solution from the German manufacturer Innovaphone. The reasons that led them to rely on Innovaphone’s solution were its technological expertise as a VoIP manufacturer, scalability, and a comprehensive portfolio of products.
The communications project implemented in the Apartments Playa del Gros was based on the installation of two Innovaphone IP0011 Gateway, with one serving as the central PBX for the entire system and the other functioning as a Turn Server and Reverse Proxy. This configuration allows for the use of external extensions.
Regarding the terminals, Snom D713 telephones have been installed in the rooms, and a D785 telephone has been placed at the reception of the apartments.
For the external reception, an Innovaphone IP112 telephone has been installed at the reception of the ABBA San Sebastián Hotel, located on the other side of San Sebastián. Additionally, the hotel has opted to use our Halfway phone billing system to integrate the Innovaphone communication center with the hotel’s Prestige PMS.
Since the apartments can be operated unattended, an IP video door entry system from the Austrian manufacturer Commend has been installed at the access door to the apartments.
Through this video intercom, customers can talk directly to the external reception to request access to the apartments by opening the door remotely. Additionally, the external reception can view the image from the video intercom on the telephone screen.
After the implementation of this project, ABBA Apartments can offer a continuous service to guests through integration with ABBA San Sebastián hotel. Additionally, with the high-resolution camera-equipped video door entry system, they can visually verify access for new customers and remotely open the access door from the San Sebastián hotel. The local control center, integrated with the hotel’s control center, ensures that guests are always attended by a person, either from the apartment or the hotel reception, ensuring a completely satisfactory experience.
