Mediterranean Consulting and the technological infrastructure as a Service. Collaboration agreement with Mercuriana

The outsourcing of IT infrastructure is a strategy for managing information systems, gaining prominence over proprietary models, known as on-premise, where the entire infrastructure is located within the customer’s physical facilities.

Through this collaboration agreement, Mediterranean Consulting will offer all its clients the possibility of accessing IaaS infrastructure services in highly available and scalable environments.

Mediterranean Consulting is a consultancy with wide experience, specialized in strategy, technology, organization, and quality. Founded more than 15 years ago, it has a development division where the technical design and programming of solutions are carried out. Among its solutions, PIMWAVE stands out, its PIM solution based on real experience in analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining PIM solutions to meet specific needs in specialized sectors, often unique for its clients. It also has a division of unified communications, based on IP technology, representing the German manufacturer Innovaphone in Spain and being its technological partner at the international level.

Mercuriana was founded in September 2007 with the goal of offering innovative solutions to its customers, providing them with a reliable, scalable, and trustworthy cloud environment. Their aim is to establish respectful and natural working communication that enables their clients to achieve their goals.

In 2007, it was challenging for customers to outsource their IT services and adopt cloud solutions. However, today, with many reluctances and fears overcome, cloud services have become more accessible and widely adopted.

At Mercuriana, we believe our IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) should be seen as a “commodity” by our customers, where they pay a fee for the service without worrying about its operation, as Mercuriana handles it entirely.

According to Francesc Xavier Berjano, director and founder of Mediterranean Consulting, “This strategic alliance will allow us to offer to all our customers infrastructure services, quality, and high added value, with flexibility and scalability, to adapt the infrastructure according to customer needs, and all in an optimal security environment.

According to Jose Mª Torres, Mercuriana’s sales and pre-sales manager, “This alliance allows us to collaborate with a prestigious partner with extensive knowledge in various environments, including healthcare, e-commerce, logistics, IP telephony, etc., and it also helps us expand our range of products and services.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provides on-demand access to IT infrastructure. This includes resources such as storage, communications, memory capacities, or processing, necessary for the execution of workloads.

IaaS provides access to computing resources located in a virtualized environment via a public, secured connection. The definition of IaaS covers aspects such as virtual server space, network connections, bandwidth, IP addressing, backup, and recovery. The pool of available hardware resources comes from a multitude of servers distributed in one or more data centers, which are maintained by the service provider.

These are some of the advantages of having an implementation based on the Infrastructure as a Service model:

  • Scalability: resources are available as and when the customer needs them, so there are no waiting times when it comes to expanding capacity, and capacity that is not being used is not wasted.
  • No need to invest in hardware: the underlying physical hardware on which the IaaS service runs is configured and maintained by the service provider, which avoids having to spend time and money on these tasks.
  • Pay-as-you-go billing model: the service is available on demand, and the customer only pays for the resources used.
  • Location independence: the service can be accessed from anywhere, as long as there is an Internet connection and the security protocol enabled by the cloud service.
  • Physical security in the data centers: the services available through an IaaS infrastructure benefit from the physical security enjoyed by the data centers where the servers are hosted, which is far superior to what we can have in an on-premise installation.
