Optimizing the management model of a social initiative cooperative

Case study

Eduvic

Eduvic SCCL, established in 1994, is a social initiative cooperative society of associated workers, with a focus on social initiatives and non-profit activities. The cooperative’s primary objective is to work with children, adolescents, and youth, particularly those at social risk, and to provide support to their families, their communities, and society. This work encompasses both specialized and preventive approaches.

Eduvic is involved in the following activities:

  • Promoting and managing residential care services, family therapeutic care, and socio-educational prevention.
  • Sharing professional knowledge through training, supervision, consultancy, and research activities conducted within the organization.
  • Promoting the dissemination of cooperativism, its values and principles as a viable and valuable approach for social enterprises.

The objective

The purpose of initiating an organizational and technological consultancy in Eduvic was to address the cooperative’s organizational, functional, and technological requirements. Eduvic has an organizational structure consisting of various areas, departments, and companies that offer services to individuals. With the growing need for internal information management and the introduction of new legal regulations, it became necessary to review the technological applications supporting these processes.

The aim was to significantly enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the management model and advance what we could refer to as Eduvic’s modernization process.

The challenge

To propose a future model that aligns with the short and medium-term needs of Eduvic and to ensure the strategic plan is in line with the cooperative’s management operations.

Results

The first task we carried out in Eduvic was to identify the needs or areas of improvement in a systematic manner, analyzing each area individually. Subsequently, a prioritization process was conducted, and based on the findings, Eduvic’s management decided to prioritize the implementation of a quality platform – a computer application – as a key objective for this year. The platform aims to automate and trace all the information generated within the cooperative’s quality management system.

With the collective effort of the entire team, we have successfully accomplished the goal of implementing a fully functional quality platform at both the headquarters and all Eduvic centers. Achieving this objective within a short timeframe has been possible due to our collaborative approach, where despite being external suppliers, we have integrated seamlessly with the Eduvic team. Together, we share a common goal of continuously improving Eduvic’s organizational model, processes, and technology.

In Eduvic, a process known as “Open Innovation” is being implemented, recognizing that in an increasingly diverse world with dispersed knowledge, organizations can no longer solely rely on their internal innovative capabilities. Instead, they are increasingly dependent on integrating and leveraging external information and competencies.

The internal approach used is simple: analyze the improvements, prioritize them, and then implement them.
